Jagannath Ballav Pilgrim Centre

The project is currently under construction and will span over a land parcel of 5.73 acres with a construction area of 9,55,953 sq. ft. The Pilgrim Center and the Mahodadhi market will comprise a ground floor, a basement and 5 upper floors. The Musa River Development will provide parking facilities along with a viewing plaza and recreational activities like a boating club and other water sports. The project will also include a Multimodal transportation hub, a tourist centre, a medical room, a shopping centre, a gaming zone, a food plaza, a meditation centre and provision for restrooms.

Solution

Due to the prestigious project and considering the risk and potential consequences of high-water level, it was essential for the entire structure to be 100% watertight especially the basement, underground retaining structures, water tanks, & STP Tanks. The OBCC and NCC Team decided to bring Kryton technical expertise team to discuss on the waterproofing aspects of the project. Kryton did the number of trials with the entire decision-making team for complete satisfaction and then they decided to partner with Kryton because of our comprehensive technical service support and the successful 40+ years history in waterproofing and increasing the durability of concrete. Kryton’s system can add decades to the life of concrete structures, this system becomes a part of the concrete matrix, waterproofing from the inside out. Since Kryton products can withstand very high water pressure, it will provide long term protection for the concrete. Kryton Crystalline waterproofing Admix KIM used in the Pile Cap, Stitch Slab and Retaining wall of the structure at the time of concreting itself, along with Krystol Waterstop Grout for all the construction joints and tie rod holes treatment with an application of Crystalline Surface coatings Krystol T1 on the retaining walls for ensuring permanent waterproofing protection. Kryton KIM, Krystol T1 and Krystol Waterstop Grout contain Krystol® technology. When added to concrete, Krystol chemically reacts with water and un-hydrated cement particles to form insoluble needle-shaped crystals that fill capillary pores and micro-cracks in the concrete and block the pathways for water and waterborne contaminants. Any moisture introduced over the lifespan of the concrete will initiate crystallization, ensuring permanent waterproofing protection.
